SHIBUI STUDIO ART GALLERY OPENS IN MACOUPIN COUNTY, IL
GILLESPIE, IL (August 2022) –Shibui Studio Art Gallery, the first commercial art gallery located in Macoupin County, IL, will have its grand opening on Saturday, October, 1, 2022 at 12 pm to 6 pm. Everyone is invited to this open house in Gillespie, IL which will feature a ribbon cutting, music and an art exhibition.
The opening exhibit will highlight the works of two featured contemporary artists that are sisters. Genece Hamby, gallery owner and award-winning local artist best known for expressing stillness, beauty and grace through her digital paintings. Her sister, Trish Frederick, is a self-taught acrylic artist with paintings inspired by her favorite nature spots discovered while traveling throughout the U.S...
“I am enthusiastic about being a part of the growing downtown community. It has been a long-time dream to open a gallery that supports the works of other artists. ABOUT SHIBUI STUDIO ART GALLERY
The gallery is located at 119 S. Macoupin St., Gillespie, IL 62033, next to the Illinois Coal Museum. It is the newest addition to the downtown Gillespie streetscape, and the first fine art gallery in the area. The stylishly minimalist gallery will exhibit contemporary works on paper, paintings, fine art photography, and a variety of other mediums. The mission is to promote and exhibit art produced by the region’s emerging and established artists while engaging, enriching, and inspiring the community to appreciate the importance of art.
